We live out stories; I am interested in those stories and how we communicate them. The stories that we tell give context and meaning to what would otherwise be a meaningless life, made up of random events. Story provides meaning in suffering, and hope in hardship; gives context in which we celebrate some things and reject others. These stories reveal to us how to live in a world full of information (more than we can comprehend in any meaningful way), by showing us what is important.
These stories are fundamental and diverse across culture - from the individual pursuit of success in one place, to the individual's inextricable link to the collective somewhere else. The arts: film, music, writing, fine arts etc. are the language through which these values are transmitted. I am interested in these stories which give me a glimpse into the human condition, and I am interested in the practice of storytelling (and it is always, of course, a practice).
I do photography and I write, and I am exploring and experimenting with other forms of storytelling. There are some collections under the 'Photos' and 'Writing' sections of this site.
